Tips for Managing Pain & Staying Healthy
-
CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy)
Train your brain to manage pain in a new way! CBT helps you set goals, pace yourself, and use mental strategies to turn down pain signals. Find a therapist.
-
Biofeedback
A mind-body technique that helps you control things like heart rate, breathing, and muscle tension. It teaches you how to relax and manage stress, which can help with pain. Want to try it? Sign up for our Migraine Management Courses.
-
Stay Hydrated
Drink enough water so your pee is light yellow. You need extra when it's hot or you're active. Skip sugary or caffeinated drinks!
-
Fuel Your Body
Eat regular meals with fruits, veggies, whole grains, and protein. Try to avoid processed foods with too much salt, sugar, or weird chemicals.
-
Get Enough Sleep
Teens need 8-10 hours a night (pre-teens need even more!) Stick to a routine, power down screens 30 minutes before bed, and speak up if you snore or have trouble breathing.
-
Move Your Body
Exercise every day if you can. If you're trying to get stronger or lose weight, aim for 20-30 minutes of activity that makes you sweat. Warm up first and don’t push through pain.
-
Manage Stress
Stress happens, but finding ways to handle it is key. Don’t overbook yourself—make time to chill and recharge. Try deep breathing, journaling, or something creative! Our Wellness for Migraine can help.
