Danielle’s Legacy - 25th Anniversary of Her Passing

A letter from Elizabeth Henry Weyer

Executive Director of the Danielle Byron Henry Migraine Foundation

March 24, 2024, marks the 25th anniversary of Danielle’s death. Grief is a complex journey. You can live 1000 hours in one day and 25 years in the blink of an eye. So much time has passed that I struggle to remember the sound of my sister’s laughter, the strength of her hug, and the beauty in her smile. Yet my memory of that day and the days that followed is seared in my mind. I grieve for her promising future, our family of four, and the loss of her presence for the significant events and small mundane moments of everyday life.

Today is also the 8th anniversary of the establishment of the Danielle Byron Henry Migraine Foundation in her honor and memory. I often wish that she was by our side as we work tirelessly to provide support and resources to those with migraine disease, especially children. However, the Foundation would not exist had we not lost her.

The Foundation and its programs, particularly Migraine at School, impact thousands of lives daily. We provide support, resources, and, most importantly, hope for individuals like Danielle and their families. Her memory and spirit live on through every act - empowering parents and students to advocate, educating school nurses and counselors, providing free educational materials and tools, educating healthcare providers, and providing free programs that give hope and a sense of community to those who often feel alone and hopeless.

On behalf of myself and my parents, thank you for being a valuable member of our community and joining us in celebrating Danielle’s life and legacy.
